New, clean facility with a large lounge area for meeting other travelers. Homey, comfortable atmosphere. Very clean throughout.
Our room was on the 4th floor (walk-up) and showers were in the basement. Guest kitchen was tiny for the number of rooms. Most of the staff were wonderful but several were indifferent to the point of rudeness.

I loved it there. The location is excellent, right in the middle of down- town Akureyri. The best bars(mini-clubs) are just next door to it, but as soon as you close the windows, you don't hear a thing. So it's a great choice whether you like to go out or go to sleep early. The security is amazing, which is important for me as a female-solo- traveller. No only does the door to the rooms lock, but the floor is also locked, so there shouldn't be anyone on your floor unless they also have a room there. Plus there are lockers inside the rooms, where you can keep your valuables safe. This is the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in, but is also incredible comfy. The staff is very helpful and nice and I met some really fun people as well. For the price I paid I didn't really have huge expectations, kinda figured that as long as I had a bed of some sort to sleep in I'd be good, but Akureyri Backpackers is so much better than anything I hoped for. I have been to hotels and paid 6x the price I paid there and not been nearly as comfortable. I'm telling all my friends about this and they're seriously considering staying there if they ever go to Akureyri. Don't even think about going someplace else. Akureyri Backpackers is the best choice you can make, and you can use the money you save compared to other places and shop or do something really adventurous you couldn't afford before.

One of the best backpackers hostel in which I ever have been. It was very centric, in the main shoping street. It is an old and very well restaured building with new big rooms (they seem new). We slept in a big and confortable bed. The restrooms are clean and nice but you need to know that all the showers are in the basement and you can be hosted in the 4th floor. The kitchen is big and very well equipped. All has a great decoration. Great value for low budget

LOcation, cleanliness and the ambiance.
No real problem but the corridors are a little noisy as they are bare floor boards and so the noise of people coming and going reverberates.

The hostel had a quiet atmosphere on the 4th floor. Comfortable beds with 2 toilets and hand-basins across the corridor. Showers downstairs were refreshing. Met friendly people from around the world and enjoyed sharing stories. Conveniently located in the heart of a small town.

We had a fantastic stay at a hostel in the heart of Akureyri. The bar had a vibrant atmosphere and served delicious food. The room was comfortable and had a shared bathroom with a sauna, a major plus. The location couldn't have been better, right in the city center. The staff were friendly and helpful, making our stay even better. we highly recommend staying at this hostel in Akureyri.

I stayed in Akureyri only for one night, but everything was just fine for me: the room was ok, there were plenty of toilets and showers, the kitchen was quite big and well-equipped (they even have stickers that you can use to label your food when you store it in the fridge!) and the atmosphere was warm and nice. There's a computer available for the guests and you can use it for 20 min, which is reasonable. The outside of the building looks great as well! The staff I came in contact with was helpful and polite. Before I got there I had to change my booking and I must say that they were very quick and attentive when it came to replying by email. They had also provided me with all the necessary instructions in case I should arrive later than their ordinary check-in time. It's just a short walk from the bus station and maybe 3 km from the domestic airport.
Nothing in particular
